Dreams of Detoxification: 🥊 Top Tips For An Easy & Comfortable DETOX
November 02, 2021
This frightens me at the same time it enthralls me. Strip my insides of those malevolent anti-nutrients? Where did they come from? How did they get there? What are they??
Toxins, that’s what they are. A toxic micro-organism squatting in our body. Sure, it got there because I ate junk food, went to a bar, stood outside on the street; namely, from free-radicals.
‘Free-radicals’ are not a terrorizing group of Californian surfers from the 1970s, instead, they are toxins that surround us in the environment. We can avoid the alcohol, the junk food, the smoking, but we cannot avoid the pollution in our air (unless we become hermits, that is). This is where free radicals hang around, getting into our system, prematurely aging us and being at the root of some awful illnesses.
What can we do??? Well, there is no need to panic! We can simply detoxify our system. And there are many great ways to do this too! There are supplements, teas, foods, colon procedures. Personally, I am not at all excited about sticking a device up my bum to irrigate it.
So here are other, easier, more comfortable ways to detox:
Spices:
Spice up your meals with some of these great ingredients: Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Cardamom, Saffron, Chili, Fennel - so delicious and easily turns a plain meal or snack into a tasty one. These can be added to drinks also, or taken in supplement format. For me, I love garlic, and I eat it at least once a day. Mince it into my sauces, or chop it into a salad. But I understand the breath factor isn’t appealing for some! Turmeric is great, but boy does it stain! My fingertips yellow after cooking and eating my very yellow dinner. But chili will always be a winner - you can almost feel its detoxifying properties, need I really go into detail?
Citrus Fruits:
Lemon, oranges, grapefruit - toxins do not like these sour babies! A great healthy way to start your day is by drinking warm water with a squeeze of lemon. It will jump-start your system into the battlefield needed to fight those pesky free radicals. We’ve all heard that eating half a grapefruit in the morning is great for our health, and this is why! “They” say its good for weight loss, but what it’s doing is cleaning our systems, so if you are somewhat overweight, you can benefit more with this detox plan.
Tea:
I love my cup of tea. I can drink 5 to 6 cups a day, but not all the same. Green tea in the morning, a black tea in the afternoon with a drop of milk, and after 4 pm, always caffeine-free infusions. The options out there are inexhaustible. Tea with fennel, vervain, dandelion, cilantro. The great thing about herbal infusions is that you can make them yourself! If you are in the habit of gardening or nature walks, pick the herb or plant, bring it home, dry it (tie by the stems and hang upside down somewhere), and boil it. If you have the apparatus drop the flora into an infuser, it will be much easier to drink, or even a coffee filter will do the trick!
So these are just some of the easier ways to detoxify. It is not really necessary to go on a whole detox mission, unless you want to, of course. But if you wish to just silently battle those daily free-radicals then these options could be perfect for you!
